Bio

Dr. Hui Yang has over a decade's experience in digital product design and product management, from growth stage startup to public enterprise, in Sweden, USA & China. He recently joined Volvo Cars Global Online Experience team, as a Group Product Manager, in the Future Retail & Assisted Shopping cluster.

Prior to joining the company, Dr. Yang was with Dentsply Sirona (NASDAQ: XRAY), the world’s largest manufacturer of dental products and technologies, where for 5+ years, he was responsible for the global ordering, payment, and CAM solutions of digital platform and Implant group’s user-facing software portfolio. Previously, he managed products at Saltside Technologies, a Swedish internet company backed by Kinnevik and Hillhouse, the creator of leading online marketplaces: Bikroy, ikman, Tonaton, and Efritin.

Before moving to Sweden, he led various data-driven informatics projects in the US at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Analytics (LISA) at Penn State from 2010 to 2014. He has R&D experience at Intelligent Automation, Inc. , think tank for US federal customers including Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). His work and research address the challenge of making sense of massive datasets in MedTech by applying interdisciplinary methods, such as user-centered design, data mining, information visualization, and network analytics.

He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Penn State, and his Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a M.S.and B.S. in Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology,one of the C9 League in China. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), and served as the Communications Chair of the HFES Penn State Chapter. He plays guitar, and is a huge fan of classical music, and award-winning photographer.
